What I did on My summer vacation: By Jason Kapono

The Toronto Sports Exchange has come back from its long summer siesta because to be quite frank the circumstances demand that we throw in our two cents worth.  So what story could be so titillating that it commanded our immediate attention?

Was it the Toronto Blue Jay’s and their quest to give me an ulcer?  (The Toronto Stock Exchange is continually disappointed by the Blue Jays.  To the TSE the Blue Jays are like a bad boyfriend that we always hope will call, always hope will change his bad boy ways, always hope will someday love us… But continually lets us down and leaves us sitting alone, at home, with a broken heart.)

So no, it was not the Blue Jays.  After their nine game road losing streak we vowed we would never love them again.  (But they have been winning a few games…)

Was it the riveting Stanley Cup Playoffs?  Detroit vs. Pittsburgh round 2!  Get excited people!  Game 7 here we come!  Yeah, not so much… The TSE makes a point of cheering against Detroit whenever possible, not just because they are within our geographical radius, but also they have been so continuously successful, while the Leafs have been so, well, what’s the opposite of successful?  Not successful.  Right.

What did catch our eye this week was the Raptor’s recent move to trade “3 point specialist” Jason Kapono to the Philadelphia 76ers for “grit and determination specialist” Reggie Evans.

Was this a good move?  Does it even matter?

TSE is going to have to go more with: good move that doesn’t really matter.  This move was a 1 million a year salary dump.  It was an admission of guilt by Brian Collangelo.  Kapono was one of his first free agent moves with the Raptors, but one that ultimately never panned out.  The writers at TSE feel that Kapono would make an excellent HORSE player, but never really hit the big three point daggers when the game was on the line, alla Mo Peterson.

So the occasional three is out and some hard nosed rebounding is in.  But more importantly one million a year is back in, no the question is who will the Raptors spend it on?

Until this question is answered, or the Blue Jays start winning consistently - We will be at the beach.
