Tampa Bay Rays Trade Pool, Rays Party Edition

I would like to first remind you that our Minor League/Draft writer, Burgi, will have a minor league rundown every Friday.

Over at Rays Index, there is a little contest called the Trade Pool with several bloggers where each one sends a list of the five players they think will be traded this year by the Rays. Here is an explanation for each player on my own list.:

#1 Chad Bradford- The bullpen is set with a good rotation of three setup men, a LOOGY, a closer, an effective middle reliever, and a long reliever. Barring any injury, one pitcher will have to be removed in order to place Bradford on the roster. The Rays need their long reliever and three setup men, so there are three players on the hot seat. Troy Percival won’t be removed unless he gets injured (very likely). Joe Nelson has been very solid in middle relief and Maddon likes how he matches up against left-handers. And Lance Cormier has been solid as well, eating up valuable innings and holding games close. Unless someone is injured or literally gets beaten to ground by opposing hitters, the Rays will have to move Bradford somewhere.

#2-5!
