Gore could miss next two games with ankle strain
Frank Gore is expected to miss the next two games with an ankle strain. Already nursing a sore ankle, Gore was taken out of the game after the 49ers’ first run play. He would not return.
An ankle strain is different from a sprain. The strain focuses on some kind of pull or tear in muscles or tendons. A sprain is an injury to the ligaments of the ankle.
Since Gore would miss the next two games on the schedule, the 49ers can breathe a sigh of relief. The next two opponents are the Rams and Falcons at home. The 49ers should not have any problems against the injured Rams, but the Falcons are a challenge.
Let’s say that the 49ers beat the Rams and lose to the Falcons, the 49ers will be 3-2 with a 3-0 division record. The 49ers have a bye following the game against the Falcons, meaning that Frank Gore will have about four full weeks to heal his ankle.
The bye week comes at a good time for the 49ers and that part of the schedule favors the 49ers in that sense.
