Game 2 10-29-10: Oklahoma @ Detroit (Excerpt)

Oklahoma City Thunder 105
Detroit Pistons 104

Another heart-breaking loss.

After trailing for much of the game, the Pistons took a 104-103 with 7.5 seconds on a clutch triple by Charlie Villanueva.

Ben Gordon (32 points, 2 triples, 4 rebounds) drove to the basket, drew four Thunder defenders to him and kicked it out to Villanueva (12 points, 2 triples, 7 rebounds) in the corner. These are the players Joe Dumars envisioned bringing to Detroit. Hopefully, they stay healthy for the entire season and continue raising their level of play.

With 2.5 seconds left, the Thunder inbounded the ball to Jeff Green. He looked to dish off to Kevin Durant (30 points, 8 rebounds), but he was covered by Tayshaun Prince. Guarded by Jason Maxiell on the perimeter, Green drove to the basket and laid the ball in before Ben Wallace could rotate in from covering Serge Ibaka to cut him off.

Out of timeouts, the Pistons inbounded the ball to Gordon, who didn’t see the shot clock and dribbled time out as he tried to set up for a last second shot.
