Game 1 10-27-10: Detroit @ New Jersey (Excerpt)

New Jersey Nets 101
Detroit Pistons 98

The Pistons played well for much of the game.

They defended. They had seven players score 10 points or more.

They shared the ball for 21 assists vs 17 for New Jersey, had just 6 turnovers vs New Jersey’s 11, they had 19 fast break points vs New Jersey’s 4.

The bench scored 49 points and extended a 3 point lead in the start of the fourth quarter to six points with five minutes left.

Rodney Stuckey had 14 points, 7 assists, and no turnovers. He was efficient, distributing the ball, and defensively dominating Nets point guard Devin Harris–until the last 1:40 when the Pistons blew a 95-88 lead.

Stuckey stripped Harris of the ball, but did not dive with him to the floor (neither did other nearby Piston players). Harris tipped the ball to Jordan Farmar, who sank a triple, starting an 11-0 run.
