Are the NY Mets for real? Will the real NY Mets please stand up?

Whatever questions there were about the New York Mets entering this season, after a little over 25% of the 162-game grind in the books, what can be said for certain is the Metropolitans are taking their fans on one exhilarating roller coaster ride.

After losing 8 of their first 12 games to take up residence in the National League (NL) East cellar, New York went on to win 9 of their next 11 contests, including a streak of eight consecutive victories, to catapult into first place in the division with a 2-game bulge over the defending NL Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

However, the Mets would proceed to get blown out in the last two games of a highly anticipated three-game series with the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park before hitting a slide where they lost 12 of their next 18 to fall back into last place in the NL East and staring down the barrel of an eight-game deficit to Philadelphia.
